What does kohlrabi taste like? It has a mild, buttery taste (and texture) similar to cauliflower or sweet radishes. Use it in stews, with potatoes for mash, or on it’s own.
What you need:
- 1-2 kohlrabis
- Cheese, I like camembert for this
- Toppings like mustard, jam, or bacon
- Oil & salt
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Remove leaves and peel the kohlrabi. If the kohlrabis are small, simply par boil them whole. If they are large cut them in half. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until tender, but not soft. You should be able to pierce with a knife.
Spoon out a hole in the middle, which you will stuff with cheese. Use your favorite cheese, preferably one that gets gooey when heated. I’m using camembert & mustard for one half and cheddar and bacon for the other half.
Add a nice chunk of cheese into the middle of each hole you’ve dug out. Topp with a spread or other yummies.
Bake at 350F for about 20 minutes, until cheese is melted and browned. Serve warm.
