Instant Pot Applesauce

My mother gave me this recipe. She’ll collect two week’s of apples and then make this sauce. It’s delicious and low in sugar. If you have apples that you don’t know what to do with, this is the move!

What you need:

  • 6 – 8 apples, cut into pieces (leave the skin on if you’d like)
  • 1/2 c water
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 – 2 tsp autumn harvest blend, or cinnamon
  • 1/3 c packed brown sugar, optional

I like to leave the skin on but you can peel the apples if you want. You just get more texture and nutrients from the skin. Add everything to the instant pot and toss so the spice coats everything. Put the lid on per the manufacturer’s instructions.

Set cook time for 5 minutes. Once the cook time is up, let the pressure release.

If you want chunky sauce: use a potato masher to break down the apples.

If you want a smoother texture: use a food processor
